You are invited to the CRELLA On-line Summer Research Seminar 21st July 2021 10am (BST)
You are cordially invited to join us for our on-line summer research seminar. We are delighted to welcome Dr. John M. Norris, Senior Research Director from the Center for Language Education and Assessment Research, Educational Testing Service in the USA as our guest speaker.
Dr. Norris will give a presentation titled "Making the most of task-based language assessment". In this presentation, he provides an overview of the uses for and designs of task-based language assessment (TBLA). From classroom-based assessment to professional competency certification and large-scale proficiency testing, TBLA plays a critical role in assessing what learners can do in the target language. Dr Norris illustrates how different uses for assessment call for distinct task types and designs, and he emphasizes the positive consequences of TBLA for language teaching and learning.
There will also be presentations from two of CRELLA’s PhD candidates:
Nick Glasson from Cambridge Assessment/CRELLA regarding his research using conversation analysis of interaction in an online, unmediated collaborative speaking task.
and
Muhammad Tanveer from Majan University College in Oman/CRELLA regarding his research into the development of a speaking test to guide recruitment to the call-centre industry in Oman.
The session takes place on the 21st July 2021 at 10am (BST)
