Some of you will know I’ve done a bit of fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society this year. In September I swam a mile in the serpentine, and in October I took part in a Memory walk around the city of London.
It was after the walk I heard about a third event, and with glass in hand – I was rehydrating, it was a warm day - and full of bravado declared ‘I’ll do that!’ And this is how I signed up to do a charity bike ride next weekend.
On 29 June I’m cycling 150 miles, Seascale to Whitby, in just one day. My family have questioned my sanity but that has only spurred on my training. My local bike shop have got me to the start line with second-hand road bike, lots of advice, new brake pads and a gel seat. There are a lot of hilly hills to go up along the way and it will probably take me all daylight hours. See the route here: www.opencycling.com/coast-to-coast-in-a-day/map
I’m cycling with nine others and we have a shared justgiving page. Any support for our efforts and for the Alzheimer’s Society would be really appreciated. www.justgiving.com/fundraising/cordwainerscoast2coast
