We're enhancing our digital security measures to protect our digital learning systems. As part of this initiative, the Digital Learning Team and ICT have teamed up to make changes to how colleagues log into BREO. Starting from 5 September, we'll be gradually moving towards using Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to log into BREO over the next few weeks. You will see this advertised on BREO, and you and your students will be able to try logging in with MFA to help everyone transition. However, from 26 September (subject to confirmation), logging into BREO will require you use MFA exclusively.
We are introducing this change to help mitigate cybersecurity risks and to ensure that our digital learning systems are as accessible as possible for both colleagues and students.
Key points for colleagues:
- This update affects everyone who uses BREO.
Staff who haven't already set up MFA will need to do so. Instructions can be found in MFA guide for staff.
- You will need to use your University of Bedfordshire email address for MFA, the standard format is firstname.lastname@beds.ac.uk e.g. joe.bloggs@beds.ac.uk. (If you have trouble logging in with the email address please contact the ICT Service Desk for confirmation of your email address).
- A mobile phone will be necessary to authenticate your login.
The transition to MFA will be gradual, with a countdown visible on BREO's login page.
- We strongly suggest that you try logging in with MFA before 26 September - after this point you will only be able to use MFA to log into BREO.
Our ICT and Digital Learning teams will communicate this change to all students.
- If you encounter any issues while using MFA, please contact the ICT Service Desk on: 01582 743366, ext: 3366 or via the self-service portal: uobservicedesk.beds.ac.uk.
Information you can share with your students:
- This change affects all students, irrespective of their location.
Students who haven't already set up MFA will need to do so. Instructions can be found in MFA guide for students.
- The transition to MFA will be gradual, and a countdown will appear on BREO's login page.
- Post 26 September (subject to confirmation), students will be required to use MFA for logging into BREO.
Please encourage your students to try logging in with MFA before 26 September.
- If students encounter any problems with MFA, they should contact the Student Information Desk (SID)
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we implement these changes.
