Visitors' first impressions are key. Many coming to Luton for the first time will use the town's central station. Its condition can best be described as 'not fit for purpose'. The buildings are tired and the concourse and platforms shabby. Worst of all is the non-existent access for disabled people or those with pushchairs or luggage.
The Luton Station Action Group was set up in response a consultation about peak time trains. It has, however, a wider remit, including access and refurbishment. Improvements in both these areas will give people arriving to the town - including those visiting the University for Open Days - a much better and brighter impression.
