Change of alert level in Luton
You will most probably have seen the announcement yesterday evening that as of Saturday 31 October at 12:01am the government has announced Luton will move to Tier 2 or Covid alert level: high.
You can view the announcement here and a summary of the latest guidance and health advice for Luton residents can be found here.
However, the change in alert status does not mean there will be a change in our delivery model. In line with government guidance for universities situated within an area with a High Covid alert level, we will remain open with no changes to our teaching arrangements. Our current blended approach - some face-to-face teaching but lectures online - together with safety measures we have taken to make our campuses Covid secure, will ensure that our Luton campus is safe for those who need to use it.
This is a fluid situation and we are keeping our approach under constant review. We will continue to monitor both the local situation and also any changes to government guidance for the sector.
The move to High Covid alert status does mean student households must not mix indoors and students must not move between their permanent home and term time address during term time.
However commuting students (those who live at a family home and travel to/from university each day) can continue to travel to/from the Luton campus when timetabled to do so.
Further information on all our Covid safety measures and rules can be found here.
I am also pleased to announce that we have made good progress on setting up our testing centres. The Bedford testing centre should be up and running next week and the Luton one by mid-November.

Please do discuss this with your line manager if you have any questions or concerns.
