Climate change is affecting every country on every continent. Without action, the world’s average surface temperature will rise and soon surpass three degrees centigrade. The poorest and most vulnerable people will be the most effected.
To address climate change, countries around the world, including the UK Government, adopted the Paris Agreement in order to limit global temperature rise to well below 1.5 degrees centigrade.
Universities have a role to play in ensuring the global temperature rise remains under 1.5 degrees centigrade. Including us.
In January 2020, we excitedly launched Target Zero, our campaign to highlight our mission to cut carbon emissions and tackle recycling rates. We all have a responsibility to look after our planet, and small actions make a big difference.
The pandemic affected some of our campaign plans, however, we are resurrecting our Target Zero campaign in Spring 2022, to encourage our students and staff to do their bit and help reduce carbon emissions and increase our recycling on campus.
Throughout the next year we will be sharing hints and tips to encourage us all to make small changes which really can make a big different to our environment.
