Pop up vaccinations on campus
We are setting up Covid vaccinations sites at our Luton and Bedford campuses at the start of the new academic year 2021/22.
We encourage all of our staff and students to get vaccinated, as it remains the best way to protect yourself and each other from Covid-19. To help make getting vaccinated easier, we are providing walk-in vaccinations on campus. To receive a vaccination at one of our vaccination sites you don't need to be registered with a GP or have booked a prior appointment but you should have your NHS number on hand.
Our vaccination sites will have vaccine 'reassurers' on-site to provide support, advice and reassurance to any students or staff that are receiving their vaccine. With water and biscuits on hand for anyone that may be feeling unwell after their vaccination.
If you would prefer to book an appointment rather than just walking in you can use the University's booking service.
Dates and times
To provide the best opportunity for new and returning students to get involved, vaccinations will be available during Welcome weekend and induction week as well as the first week of term:

Vaccination centre Locations
Luton - Vaccinations will take place on the ground floor at the Campus Centre – in the space near to Careers and Innovations & Enterprise.
Bedford - Vaccinations will take place on the ground floor at the Campus Centre, outside of the theatre on all dates including Welcome weekend.
Each vaccination station will have 3 tables set out with 3 chairs, and approximately 30 chairs to provide a ‘waiting area’. Once you have received your vaccine you may be asked to wait for 15 minutes before leaving, so that medical staff can monitor any potential side effects.

What to expect at the vaccination centre
Upon arrival, you will be asked to wait in a socially distanced line until your details can be checked, make sure to have your NHS number handy to help smooth the process.
Upon getting to the front of the line you will be asked for your NHS number, as well as if it is your first or second vaccination appointment. Once you have provided the necessary details you are able to get your vaccine.
You will then be called over by one of the medical professionals on hand, who will ask you a few simple questions about your medical history e.g. if you have any allergies, etc. This is a good time to mention anything that you feel may be medically relevant to your vaccination or to ask about any questions you may have.
After this point, you will get your vaccine! You’ll feel a small scratch, or possibly nothing at all, then after a second, the vaccination will be finished.
You will then be asked to sit in a waiting area for around 15 minutes just so that the medical staff on hand can ensure that you aren’t suffering from any side effects. Side effects are rare and most side effects are immediately noticeable, all medical staff at the centre will be fully trained to deal with any issue that happens.
After you’ve finished waiting, you can get up and leave, make sure you don’t forget to grab a biscuit on the way out!
