It is with great pleasure that we can now share the next four instalments in our popular ‘An Evening With…’ public lecture series, taking us to the end of the 2021-22 academic year.

‘An Evening With… Melvin Odoom’

University of Bedfordshire graduate and Radio 1 DJ Melvin Odoom returns to the University for this public lecture. Melvin graduated from the University in 2001 and has gone on to work across BBC and ITV. Throughout his time in the industry, Melvin has worked with some of the biggest celebrities and brands, and his lecture is sure to inform anyone interested in a career in broadcasting and media.
‘An Evening With… Carrie Grant MBE’

BAFTA award-winning broadcaster Carrie Grant MBE joins us for an evening of advice on inclusive, collaborative approaches to life and work. Carrie is also a MOBO award winner and a BASCA recipient for her lifetime services to the music industry, alongside being awarded an MBE in 2020 for services to Music, Media and Charity. She is currently a reporter for BBC’s ‘The One Show’ and co-host of BBC Radio London’s Live Saturday Breakfast Show.
‘An Evening With… Professor Sir Jonathan Van-Tam MBE’

Deputy Chief Medical Officer Jonathan Van-Tam MBE joins us for what is sure to be an insightful and entertaining evening, discussing his life and career so far. Professor Sir Van-Tam is a public health specialist with a background in emergency medicine, and has been in his position of Deputy Chief Medical Officer since 2017. Most recently, he has played a key role in the UK's response to the Covid-19 pandemic, in particular the acquisition and rollout of vaccines.

For our final edition of the 'An Evening With…' public lecture series for the 2021-22 academic year, we are joined by Lisa Wainwright MBE, Chief Executive of the Sport and Recreation Alliance. To coincide with Pride month in June 2022, Lisa will be joining us for the evening to chat about her life and career. In 2019, Lisa was ranked number 8 in the Top 100 Executive LGBT+ Allies by FT OUTStanding, alongside being awarded an MBE in 2021 for her services in the field of sport leadership.
