New Personal Development Review

We have launched a new Personal Development Review (PDR) which will replace the Performance, Development & Appraisal (PDA) process.

The 2019 Staff Opinion Survey highlighted the PDA process as one we might significantly improve. We have reflected carefully on this feedback and changes and improvements are now reflected in the new process.

Reviews should be completed by 31 October 2020 (unless otherwise agreed).

Features of the new PDR process are:

1. There will be a simplified, online “PDR” form.
2. Objectives will be aligned across the University and cascaded to individuals through faculties and departments. 
3. The recommended maximum number of SMART objectives will be six.
4. Behaviours have been removed from the process. Terms such as appraisal will be replaced by “review”.
5. There will be greater emphasis on personal development, career planning and training. 
6. The process is designed to be two way and interactive.
