Supporting our communities

The University will support employees who have appointments to donate blood during the working day, at specified locations* close to the campus where they are usually based, up to 3 hours in a working day, three times a year.

Appointments should be booked following consultation with your line manager.

• Bedford - Kings House, Kings Arm Church, 245 Ampthill Road, Bedford MK42 9AZ, and The Centenary Hall, 104 Bedford Road, Kempston, Bedford MK42 8BG

Volunteering for departmental away days  

Heads of Department planning departmental away days could look to take part in local volunteering opportunities. As well as aligning with the University’s values and making staff feel good about the charity work they are doing, volunteering – particularly in teams – can give staff a motivational boost by working together for the day towards a common goal, often utilising new skills outside of their usual day-to-day remit.

Staff are welcome to source their own volunteering opportunities in agreement with their Head of Department. It is for individual teams to make contact and arrange for their team to take part in volunteering.
