Sign up for next week's free Festival of Science and Engineering events
It may be a long wait until Glastonbury and Isle of Wight, but festival season starts early here at Beds with our Festival of Science and Engineering kicking off next week (March 9 – 13).
Our STEM colleagues have organised an exciting and engaging schedule to celebrate British Science Week, including our students and academics taking over the Central Mall space all day on Tuesday 10 March.
Shoppers, families and passers-by will be able to take part in some hands on activities and get inspired by science and engineering.
Reserve your ticket on Eventbrite for Dr Paul Sant’s can’t-miss lecture ‘What does Artificial Intelligence hold for our future?’ on Thursday 12 March from 12:30 – 13:30 in the Post Graduate Centre Lounge, Luton campus.
Dr Sant will discuss the increasing use of artificial intelligence in the commercial and research world, and look at how computer systems are able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence.
And to finish our festival in style, join us for ‘A Taste of Science’ at the Beds SU Metro Bar and Kitchen, where our STEM academics will tackle common misconceptions around food and drink, and discuss the latest research on the psychology of food, all over a pint and pizza – is there a better way to end a week?
Join Paul Cavendish, Dr Lindsay McDermott, Dr Faye Powell and Dr Shaobo Zhou to discuss topics such as dietary advice, sensory specific satiety and perceptions of taste.
Bring your Eventbrite ticket to collect your free pizza at this event, taking place from 12:30 – 13:30 on Friday 13 March.
