Course and Unit Registration

Course and Unit registration are fully online.

The Course Registration task asks students to check if course information is correct, agree T&Cs, confirm personal details and confirm payment method for the course. A step-by-step guide [PDF] and a recording are available to students on our registration welcome pages, links to the registration welcome pages are listed below.

The Unit Registration task is only visible to students on courses that have option units to select or are on part-time courses. Students on full core diets will receive an email confirming the units they will be studying during the academic year.

Students are directed to use the help text on the tasks for support and to refer to the welcome pages here: Registering on your course (new students) and Re-registration (continuing students)

You can find frequently asked questions and answers regarding registration on FAQs and useful contacts

Students are sent various communications to log into eVision, My Actions page.

Some of the communications are:

  • Username email [PDF]
  • Password email [PDF]
  • Registration invite email [PDF]
  • Confirmation of units email [PDF]
  • PG Tuition Fee Agreement email [PDF]
  • Course & Unit Reg Reminder [PDF]
  • Authority to Register Late email [PDF]
  • Reminder to Upload Photo for ID Card email [PDF]
  • Reminder for Unit Choice [PDF]
  • Confirmation of Course Registration email [PDF]

Late Registration

Following the close of registration, students can apply for late registration within one week of the close of registration (Friday of week 3 of teaching period, or week 1 of block teaching). Applications will be considered on a case by case basis and are subject to approval by the Academic Registrar. Late approvals are therefore not guaranteed and will be considered on a case by case basis only.

Rollover of records

A rollover is when student records move from one academic year to the next.  Students gain an additional SCE on their records and can then register for their course and units that they will be taking in the next year.  It is a vital part of the process that links outcome to entry into registration for the following year.  All continuing students should be rolled between August and September each year unless they are exiting the University.  More information can be found in Rollover guidance [PDF]

Unit Choice

All undergraduate students on courses eligible for unit choice with an October and February start date will be invited to select their units. Invites for October starters are usually sent in March and have a deadline date of 4 weeks. Student invites for February starters are sent in June, with a deadline date at the end of July.

Unit choice closure

Once the deadline date has passed, eligible students that can continue, will have their records rolled and will be given another opportunity to select their option units through the unit registration task. The usual Registration deadline dates for course and Unit registration will then apply.
If students have not completed unit choice/registration at this stage, Academic Service staff will add the preferred units (provided by Faculties) manually.

Students who wish to change option units

We will be operating on the basis of the current process for requests to changes to units selected and are proposing that the deadline for changes coincides with the registration closure deadline of two weeks after the start of the teaching period.

The production of Student ID Cards will be undertaken by our security team.  ID cards should be produced within a 24 hour turnaround time.

Working Groups/Service reviews

  • Registration Review & Briefing Group - looks at enrolment stats and progress.
  • Course & Unit Registration Working Group - This has replaced the Unit Choice Working Group.

Projects

Registration Reengineering Project (as part of the SITs Change Programme) has delivered:

  • Automation of the ATR process (whereby applicants become provisional students) and,
  • Re-engineering of the registration task, separating out unit registration from course registration and automating a whole lot of finance processing (so provisional students can become Current much quicker!).
  • Fee arrangement task
  • Course Registration Student Validation Report
  • Student Registration Look up
  • Unit Registration Look up
  • Various other smaller tasks, such as AREL, resend registration invite & Deceased student data task
  • The Course Registration task has been reviewed and minor changes have been made to the help text to improve students' understanding of what is required within the registration task. Clearer messaging about a new tab opening for T&Cs. The Fees section of the task has had major changes, these include a red button for students to click if they have selected an incorrect payment method. Also on screen messaging informing students how much they still have to pay, next steps and updates to the instalment plan section.

  • Some updates to the registration date when students agree to T&Cs and PSRB calculation on REGD Registration date.
