After consultation with students and in response to feedback we have received in previous rounds of graduation, the graduation team have been working hard to deliver a new and improved graduation service for our students.
Revised our Ceremony Timeline – In response to our student survey and in line with the wider higher education sector, graduations at UoB will now run twice a year; in the Winter (January) and in the Summer (July). This will provide students a greater lead time to better plan and prepare for graduation and to increase engagement from our international/overseas partner students.
Improved our Graduation webpages – updated our webpages to include a comprehensive walkthrough of the graduation process and the related services. Content has be tailored to reduce student uncertainty and give them as much support as possible while planning for their graduation.
Certificate Issuance Process – Graduations will now issue certificates after they have been conferred by Examination (Scheme) Board. This will apply to all students except those studying at an overseas partner where a process is already in place supported by CAP to deliver to the partner institution.
Improved Communications –we have developed clearer branded communications to insure that students do not miss important graduation related content and that our communications fall in line with the wider Academic Registry branding.
Updated Terms and Conditions – We’ve revised our terms and conditions to make them clearer and to confirm all graduation activities have a defined process.- Graduation Terms and Conditions [PDF]
Revised our deferral policy – Clear process and guidance for students in our Guide to graduations on what their options are if they are not able to attend their assigned graduation ceremony - Deferral Process Chart [PDF]
Standardised our pricing for extra guest tickets - so extra guest tickets are the same lower fee as students 2 guaranteed guest tickets (where it is possible to make extra guest tickets available depending on capacity). The full process is outlined in our Graduation Terms and Conditions [PDF]
Enhancing students on the day experience – The team are exploring a range of additions to the graduation experience. The aim of these improvements is both to help showcase the work of the University of Bedfordshire but also make the day as memorable and enjoyable as possible for our students.
We also regularly update answers to frequently asked questions to help support students, staff and guests.
Graduation operating groups meets every term (subject to needs of the business).
