MY Print is the name for our managed print that provides staff and students with access to print copy and scan capabilities across all campuses.
All staff should have access within a reasonable distance to an MFP (Multi-Function Printer) that will allow users to print, copy and scan on high speed colour capable devices.
Our devices are installed in the following locations:
Access to the MFP’s are through the MY_Print Queue which should be installed on your PC or Laptop. If you do not have this queue please contact ICT on ext 3366 to arrange to have this installed. When printing to the MY_Print queue users can go to any MFP, sign into the machine by using their ID card. You can then see a list of available jobs to print.
Our new system offers several enhancements to the previous service
Inks and toners should come out to you automatically but if you do notice the levels in your device are running low and you have not received a replacement please email printshop@beds.ac.uk advising what ink/toner you need and the ID number of the device in question.
Paper can also be ordered online at printshop.beds.ac.uk
User guides are available for a number of processes including:
How do I print from an Apple Mac to a Desktop Printer or MFP?
After your desktop printer has been installed you will need to load the new print queue specifically for this printer onto your Mac. Instructions to complete this are available directly from ICT at ICT guides - Printing
If you have any issues you can call ICT on ext 3366.
How do I know what the name of my desktop printer is?
The name of your desktop printer will be named in the format Room Number-Model Number-ID Number. To find this please navigate to \\printserver from a PC and scroll through to find your printer or call the print room on 01582 521421 and speak to Dave Plummer.
For MFP's you will need to load the MY_Print Queue onto your Mac following the instructions at ICT guides - Printing
If you have any issues you can call ICT on ext 3366.
As well as staff PC's and Macs - What else can I print from?
The MY Print - Managed Print Service supports PC and Mac desktop computers and laptops whether they logged into your UoB account or not.
To setup a PC that does not log onto the UoB network or to setup a personal mac; go to mobileprint.beds.ac.uk:9163/setup or visit myprint.beds.ac.uk and choose the option from the left hand menu - User Guide: Setting up mobile print queue
Web Print and Email Print
If you are not connected to our network or you don't want to install a driver or setup a mobile print queue you can also use web print or email print functions.
Web Print allows you to print via a web interface at myprint.beds.ac.uk select Web Print from the left hand Menu. This is a simple upload tool for supported files that are sent to a mono or colour print queue. Your documents are made available to print next time you logon to a MY Print MFP.
Email Print will enable users to send single or multiple supported attachments to be processed and printed. Just email your files to myprint@beds.ac.uk. You will receive a conformation email with a link to follow to release your jobs to the system. All compatible attachments will be available to you to print next time you log on to a copier.
Files Supported: Picture Files, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, PDF, XPS
Is there one place where I can find all this information?
myprint.beds.ac.uk is your new home for everything to do with the managed print service. As well as access to Web Print you can use the portal to view your job history, view your jobs awaiting release and access links to various user guides in the links section on the left hand side.
If you have issues with any aspect of the system please log a call on the ICT service desk and we will get back to you with the most appropriate help to solve your issue and get you printing.
