We’re continuing to invest in upgrading our campuses to create better spaces for staff, students and visitors. While this work is underway, some areas may be closed or restricted, and there will be periods of construction noise.
To help you plan for the week ahead, our constructors provide a weekly Red/Amber/Green (RAG) rating showing the expected level of disruption across three time periods each day (before 10am, 10–3pm, after 3pm).
If you have any questions please contact the Estates and Facilities team.
Crane Hire
Crane hire was scheduled for Wednesday 16 September. It has been moved back one day to Thursday 17 September.
Increased Noise – 4 Day window
There will be increased noise emanating from the ASHE construction site WC 14 September. This will be due to increased drilling. The drilling will be sporadic, and not continuous.
Painting
The plant section of the site (looking out on to Park Street, directly above the STEM entrance) will be painted this weekend. Four coats will be required over four days: Saturday 12, Sunday 13, Monday 14 & Tuesday 15 September. Staff and students may notice a pungent smell of paint when walking past the site. However this will be temporary.
Luton – Block C – Ground & First Floor
As part of our partnership with Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we've agreed in principle to use part of our Luton campus as the site for a new Community Diagnostics Centre (CDC).
The CDC will provide modern healthcare facilities for endoscopy, CT scanning and bone density scanning (Dexa), helping to strengthen the region’s overall healthcare infrastructure.
Works about to commence will occur in two phases:
The CDC will occupy the ground and first floors of C Block and have its own dedicated entrance.
