Our new learning management system provides a comprehensive, user-friendly hub for all your learning needs, whether online or in-person.
Our ambition in launching the People Development Hub is that it will be a one-stop shop where all training needs will be available in one location, making it easy to track both mandatory and optional training.
The People Development Hub supports diverse learning styles with a variety of resources, from videos to interactive games, and integrates seamlessly with Breo and other essential policies and documents.
Managers can monitor their team's progress and connect them with relevant training, while designated 'champions' and user guides provide additional support.
Enhanced reporting and compliance features ensure that all staff stay well-trained and compliant.
The People Development Hub offers numerous optional courses for continuous professional growth at your own pace.

University of Bedfordshire – New Learning Platform
The People Development Hub is our new learner management system, replacing OLAS, designed to offer a more accessible, inclusive and enjoyable learning experience for all staff.
The new system will provide a better, more enjoyable and inclusive learner experience and enable more rigorous oversight across the University of mandatory training completion, thereby helping us to manage risk.
Some other key benefits of the new system include:
Each employee will have their own dashboard, unique to them. They will easily be able to see all of their mandatory learning, what they have completed, and what is outstanding. Managers will also have a team-level dashboard and get greater insight into how their teams are progressing with their training.
You can access the People Development Hub via the staff intranet. Click here to log in.
Our longer term ambition is that all training, learning and development will be provided through the People Development Hub. Initially, there might be some training or eLearning for certain parts of the organisation that will still take place on other systems, for example some training for the Academy for Learning and Teaching Excellence takes place currently on BREO. However, we hope to move all teaching and learning to the People and Development Hub.
Any mandatory training that has not been completed on OLAS will be transferred to the new system and staff will receive a notification asking them to complete this training. Training modules that have already been completed on OLAS will not need to be redone on the new People Development Hub.
The one exception is ICT/ Cybersecurity courses – it has not been possible to match OLAS courses in these topics to those on the new system, so these will need to be completed again. However, since these courses have an annual refresh requirement, we are hoping this wont be too disruptive to you.
Your dashboard provides an overview of completed and outstanding training. Managers can also track their team’s progress through dedicated reports.
All employees, visiting staff and contractors must undertake a “core” mandatory learning programme, designed to address significant risks (e.g. legal, regulatory, safety, financial).
Following benchmarking from other universities as to their mandatory learning offer, and consideration of areas where legal compliance is required, the following courses have been identified as mandatory for all staff:
Beyond the core mandatory learning requirement, there are some learning outcomes which are essential for particular service areas/roles. For example, those working in student-facing roles, managers, or those in the research community. The People and Culture Team is working with Directors, Deans and leads of service areas to identify what these areas are, and we will be creating learning pathways bespoke to the role accordingly. While some work has been completed, more details are needed, and it is anticipated that this additional mandatory learning requirement will be implemented in the autumn.
Beyond the mandatory training, the system is packed with a large number of other useful courses ranging from presentation skills to sustainability, along with many wellbeing courses and mindfulness. Take advantage of these opportunities to grow your skills and knowledge at your own pace.
