The Curriculum Team is responsible for processing all curriculum related information from the University Quality Processes to create records that can be applied to students during the course of their study. Course Information Forms (CIFs) and Unit information Forms (UIFs) collectively form the Course, Module and Diet records within the student records system which then feeds into various external systems including BREO and plays a large role in registration and the provision and improvement of data for internal and external reporting.
The Curriculum Team often has to assess the operational aspects of new courses and makes recommendations and develops processes to improve the operational delivery of courses and units. The Curriculum Team is also responsible for the implementation of the academic calendar within the system, and this then feeds the timetabling system.
The team also plays a role in the implementation of regulations into the system and supports the exam board process, creating progression information records to support the capture of exam board decisions, building awards and calculations as well as troubleshooting.
The responsibility for Course Fee information also rests within the team, with particular responsibilities for supplying the course delivery information to the Student Finance England Course Management System to ensure that all eligible courses can be funded and all eligible students can receive their funding. The responsibility for the setup of course fee profiles that feeds the finance systems in order to ensure that fees charged to students are timely and accurate is also based within the Curriculum Team.
As a central services team the Curriculum Team along with other members of the Student records team are often involved in many of the development projects across the University and play a pivotal role in supporting many operational functions.
