Deadline for registering interest in the online Autism Awareness Training Friday 8 November
There is just 3 days remaining to register your interest in the online Autism Awareness Training. Click here to register.
Students on the autistic spectrum are amongst those with the lowest graduate outcomes. In order to improve their graduate prospects, our aim is to deliver a specialised approach for students on the autistic spectrum.
We have secured Bid for Beds funding to deliver specialised training to ensure student-facing staff are able to develop the ability to recognise someone who may be on the autistic spectrum and to put into place the skills necessary to adapt and tailor their communication style to meet individual needs.
The National Autistic Society (NAS) will deliver this bespoke training, focusing on building awareness of autism and strategies to support students.
There are 45 places available to undertake the NAS online training in mid-November.
Colleagues who successfully complete the online training will be awarded certificates.
Following this, we have NAS coming to the Bedford campus on 14 January 2020 where they will deliver a training day for 25 people.
Names of those who successfully complete the online training will be forwarded to their line managers who will nominate individuals a place on the workshop.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Best wishes,
