Pensions for University staff are provided by either the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) (Professional Services) or Teachers Pensions (TPS) (Academic).
New employees who have been active members in the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) in the 30 days prior to commencing employment at the University of Bedfordshire must continue their membership with the USS.
New employees are automatically opted in to join the Pension Scheme associated with their role at the University (as detailed above).
In the event that an employee does not wish to opt in to a Pension Scheme, the Salaries team would need to be contacted to arrange for the necessary paperwork to be raised for opting out of the scheme.
Each scheme has different contribution rates. You can identify which pension scheme you are in from your payslip and when you view your profile within iTrent.
