Here’s how you can help

Make sure you turn off lights, computers etc. when not in use
Turn off Audio Video lecterns after lectures have finished
Cycle more
Eat less meat
Buy second hand clothes
Leave your car at home
Keep energy efficiency in mind; for example when boiling the kettle, only boil enough water for what you need to use.
Set the computer to sleep mode when you are away for short periods of time.
Avoid hidden power usage – ‘standby’ settings sometimes as much as 15 or 20 watts — even when they're turned off.

Make sure recyclable waste goes in the green bins indicated around campus
Try to avoid printing where possible- take a laptop or a tablet to a meeting to record meeting notes and to avoid printing off papers. Try to do things more electronically instead of paper based admin. Use recycled paper and paper from FSC approved sources where possible
Take a reusable cup with you when you buy a coffee on campus and get 15p off your hot drink
Remember to recycle your coffee cups and cutlery – look out for our special coffee cup recycling bins near our cafes and dispose of your coffee cup lids separately
Precycle- thinking about recycling something old before you use anything new
Check the labels – can it be recycled? Remember if in doubt, leave it out.
