Based on feedback received throughout the consultation, several key changes have been made to the original proposals. These include:
- Refinements to the proposed standardised academic job descriptions to improve clarity, consistency and differentiation between roles, informed by feedback from colleagues and trade unions.
- Revisions to some Faculty-level proposals, including adjustments to staffing reductions, where consultation feedback and updated information supported a change from the original position.
- Retention of specialist academic areas where this was considered critical to maintaining professional accreditation, supporting student recruitment, or enabling future growth.
- A reduction in the overall number of colleagues identified as at risk when compared with the original proposals issued at the start of the consultation.
Final outcomes documents
The final outcomes documents for the University and each Faculty, which include the changes that have been made following the consultation period, are available in the individual documents below.
Update on student numbers and final staffing position to the Business School – amendment to final outcomes document.
Following analysis of Semester 2, and Block 3 registration data, it has been confirmed that student numbers are ahead of budget for UBBS.
As a result, the originally proposed reduction of 34 posts (later reduced to 28) will now be further reduced to 26.
Additional student recruitment has been broadly balanced between the School of Business and Management (B&M) and the Graduate School of Business (GSB), allowing a reduction of one post in each School.
