The Management Accounts team provide financial information, reports, advice and analysis to support the financial management and decision making of each Faculty and Department within the University. They are also actively involved in setting annual budgets and forecasts.
Each Management Accountant has specific responsibility for a number of Departments and cost centres within the University. Please see the Finance home page for staff names.
Working with the Financial Accounts team, a Financial Management Report is produced monthly, showing the previous month's activity at Faculty and Department level. Each Budget Holder will be issued, also on a monthly basis, an individual unit, cost and activity report. Monthly and ad-hoc meetings will then take place with Budget Holder's to analyse and explain variances and, if necessary, recommend corrective action.
Finance Officers/Assistants are based within each Faculty/Department who are able to directly assist staff with in-house day to day financial support.

Responsible for ensuring that all permanent and temporary staff recruitment contracts have sufficient budget funds. All recruitment contracts are passed from Human Resources to Management Accounts for confirmation. Should the contract not be confirmed justification as to why will be communicated to the originator.
All Agresso purchase requisitions over £5k, as well as the usual budget holder authorisation workflow have to have budget confirmation by Management Accountants. This is to ensure there are sufficient budget funds to cover the cost of the goods or services being purchased.
