Working with the media

Please tell us if you are aware of any potentially negative, controversial or difficult issues or events

These may have a negative impact on the University's reputation if reported by the media. If we are forewarned, we can try to minimise the damage.

The team in the Press Office is also building and developing relationships with journalists at local, regional and national levels, and with specialist publications, so that we can keep them accurately informed about the University and its activities.

Staff are not expected to deal with enquiries from journalists. 

If you are contacted by a journalist, please follow these guidelines:

• Advise the journalist to contact the University’s Press Office directly
• Do not try to answer the journalist’s queries yourself, even if they are pushy or rude to you
• Contact the Press Office on Press.Office@beds.ac.uk afterwards to alert us to the enquiry so we can follow it up
