As a line manager, you play a vital role in fostering a thriving work environment for your team at the University of Bedfordshire.

To support you in this, we’re introducing our new Leadership Framework: “Leading for Excellence”, which outlines the everyday behaviours, competencies and actions that define great leadership at the University. The framework has four key pillars:

• Future Focused
• Connect and Include
• Create, Learn, Deliver
• Build Brilliant Teams

This framework, which has been developed by our Strategic Delivery Group (SDG) in response to some of the challenges identified in our last Staff Culture Survey, includes tools and guidance to support our line managers to be great leaders and role models and ultimately helps to shape a positive, inclusive workplace culture.

Anyone can be a leader, and so the Leadership Framework can be used by any member of staff at the University.

Line managers have specific leadership responsibilities, so we expect all line managers to familiarise themselves with the leadership framework and use it to guide everyday actions and behaviours.

Monthly Line Manager Support Sessions

To help explain the launch in more detail, we’re hosting an online session on Wednesday 11 December, 11:30 – 12:30. This is the first of our monthly Line Manager Support Sessions, where we’ll:

• Discuss the Leadership Framework and your role as a line manager.
• Share policy updates.
• Provide an open forum for questions and peer feedback.
